Extending cooperation with KSS Networks

Voimatel Oy has concluded a significant contract agreement with KSS Networks to renovate the regional grid in the Tähteenranta area at Kouvola, Finland. Through this deal Voimatel significantly extends its business with KSS Networks, to include distribution network operations in addition to the existing maintenance service agreement on substations.

The contract consists of building a power supply route with a length of more than 7km, about 13km of medium voltage and low voltage cabling, and 6 park substations. Some 10km of overhead wiring will be dismantled. The contract’s challenging nature is aptly indicated by the building of a power line that crosses beneath the Kymijoki River. Voimatel will also acquire all the materials required for the contract. The project is to be completed in its entirety by mid-September 2019.

– For us, this is excellent deal that will strengthen our position in the Kymenlaakso area. We are happy for the opportunity to also show our expertise in power distribution network construction, in addition to substation work, says Petri Lehikoinen, Regional Manager at Voimatel.

– Once again, we are taking a further step towards a weather-resilient grid in the Kouvola area. Implementing a weather-resilient grid requires seamless cooperation with selected partners, says Jukka Rämä, Construction Manager at KSS Networks.
