Cooperation negotiations at Voimatel Oy completed

Cooperation negotiations at Voimatel Oy have been completed. The company’s future organisation will include four business units: Distribution Networks, IT Networks, New Services and Managed Services. The changes will take effect on 5 September 2019. As a result of the negotiations, the company will make staff reductions affecting a maximum of 75 people instead of the original estimate of 110. The number of redundancies could be substantially reduced in constructive cooperation with the staff. A total of over 200 proposals for business development and cost savings were received from the employees during the process.

The new business model permits more agile and efficient customer service. The foreseen measures will allow the company to restore its competitiveness and achieve the required savings.

“We’ve been able to identify savings and improve the prospects for long-term profitable business in collaboration with the working parties established together with the staff members specifically for this process. I’m grateful for the understanding and active involvement of the staff in this unfortunate, yet necessary process. I believe that the solutions we have worked out will help us build a brighter future for the company,” says CEO Timo Rask.

In June, Voimatel commenced consultative negotiations affecting Voimatel Oy’s all operations and staff in Finland. The underlying reason for the process was the erosion of Voimatel’s competitiveness and profitability over the past 3–4 years.
