Working together with Elenia, Voimatel is about to reform energy consumption metering by replacing old electricity meters with new generation smart devices. The meters will be supplied by Aidon Oy, a Finnish company. Preparatory work for the replacement of the electricity meters will begin during the latter part of the year, and the main focus of the project will be on 2021-2024, covering Elenia’s entire distribution network. As the project progresses, we will tell you more about the reform.
“This is an important project for us and will strengthen our service capacity in Western Finland. The project will involve the installation of meters and include such things as installation planning, work supervision and customer service. In addition, the supervision of installation work requires development and maintenance of ICT and reporting systems,” says Jarmo Nihtinen, Voimatel’s Area Manager.
The increasing production of renewable energy and the electrification of traffic will change the entire energy system, which in turn requires the development of power network services. Elenia is preparing for these changes by modernising its distribution network, related technology and the measurement of energy consumption .
