Voimatel and Green Energy Finland work together to produce clean energy from the sun

Voimatel and Green Energy Finland Oy (GEF) provide high-quality, long-lasting and reliable solar power systems for companies and households, taking into account customer needs and demands.

The partnership has deepened and diversified, and several solar power systems have already been delivered to customers and businesses.

Voimatel and GEF have been cooperating since spring 2016, when Voimatel’s services expanded to the design and delivery of turnkey solar power systems. For this purpose, GEF proved to be the most suitable partner. The cooperation started with system deliveries and training related to the installation of solar power systems. GEF also offered expert and design services as well as system installation solutions.

– In the start-up phase of a new service, finding a competent partner is very important. This is where we succeeded. Smooth cooperation was facilitated by expert contacts who were ready to help when needed. Good contacts are still key to easy and flexible cooperation, says Arto Kettunen, Product Manager for Solar Energy Services at Voimatel.

During 2017, cooperation expanded to pre-planning and installation services provided by Voimatel for GEF-supplied systems. Voimatel provided such services for several GEF-supplied sites during the autumn of 2017. A framework contract was signed in early 2018 for pre-planning and installation services.

-Cooperation is beneficial for both parties. When we, in turn, act as turnkey provider, we often use solar power system accessories, solar panels and mounting fixtures supplied by GEF, Arto Kettunen comments.

One result of the cooperation is the power plant built for Kuopion Vesi.

– In summer 2018, Kuopion Vesi ordered a solar power plant for the Jänneniemi water abstraction site under the KL-Kuntahankinnat framework agreement with GEF as the turnkey provider. The power plant has 184 x 270W solar panels, and all the electricity produced goes to the water abstraction site’s own use. Voimatel took care of site survey, installation and deployment, says Kimmo Karjalainen, Project Manager at GEF.

According to Karjalainen, the wide geographic coverage of Voimatel is a good thing and enables reliable power plant deliveries by GEF throughout Finland.

– Preliminary planning, site surveys and installation work have gone smoothly and professionally, and communication with supervisors and operatives has been fluent. Voimatel’s personnel are accustomed to operating according to the requirements of grid operators and telecom companies, and their occupational safety practices and installation quality are first class, Karjalainen goes on listing the key elements of partnership.

– In the future, we plan to increase our pre-planning and installation services for GEF-supplied solar power systems to cover the whole of Finland, and to develop cooperation also in demand-response services.
